If you are in a budget you would find the best accommodations on the east side of town. If you check out Moderno Hotel you will notice the exterior to be overgrown with vines and a very warm feeling exudes here. This hotel is located on Portal Degollado which is on the eastern side of the zocalo area. The courtyard of the hotel is green house with many antiques. The rooms here are comfy and have firm beds, nice furniture, and wonderful private bathrooms. The prices here are very cheap as you can get a one and two person room for 110 pesos per night. If you have three people you will pay 155 pesos per night. They only accept cash as payment here. If you walk a bit west of the zocalo you will stumble upon Hotel del Parque which is located on Independencia. This hotel is quiet and very peaceful as it is a little away from the center of town. The rooms are not big but the beds are. You will be pleased to have your own private terrace with a view of Uruapan. The rooms here all come with large private bathrooms and TV with cable. If you would like to stay here you will need to make sure you book well in advance as this is a popular spot and rooms fill very quickly especially during the high season. The rates for the rooms here are 200 pesos for a single person room, and a two person room goes for 300 pesos per night. They only accept cash as payment here. If you are traveling with a group of people you will probably get the most luxury for your money by staying at the Nuevo Hotel Alameda de Uruapan which is located on 5 de Febrero and is pretty close to the zocalo. The prices are high but the accommodations are more luxurious here.  The floors are done in marble, you have a bell man to take your luggage to and from your room, and you will have the cleanest bathroom in Uruapan. In the rooms you will enjoy big windows, TV and AC. The single person rate is 375 pesos a night, doubles go for 450 pesos a night, and the triples are over 520 pesos a night. They accept all major credit cards here as payment.

The food in Uruapan is varied from very inexpensive to higher scaled and fancy cafes. Most of the hot eateries are located within the zocalo. A couple of the local prized specialties are avocados, and also gourmet coffee. You can look to about any corner of town and see these two items sold on every one of them. If you are looking for more budget food options you should head to the street vendor food stands located within the Antojitos Mercado which is located on Carranza and Constitucion. These streets are on the northern part of the zocalo.  You will feel a lot of vibrant energy and you can hear the meat sizzling at just about every stand. There are many children playing and screaming and it is quite a busy atmosphere. The vendors will try to entice you by yelling out what they have to offer to get you to come to their food stands. If you are an adventurous eater you will definitely want to try the Atole de leche and that is a cornstarch drink that is warmed and frothy and absolutely delicious. This drink can be bought for around 5 pesos. The Mercado is open every day from 8am-12 midnight and they only accept cash here. If you are in desire of a more high class atmosphere you will find yourself very pleased at the Cafe La Pergola located on Portal Carrillo which is on the southern part of the zocalo. here the waiters are dressed very professionally in suits and slacks, and the lighting is very dim and the atmosphere very inviting. Some of their favorites on the menu are Uruapan enchiladas which cost 60 pesos and drinks made out of avocados go for 32 pesos. They are open every day from 8:30am-11:30 pm and they only accept cash as payment. A favorite place among the locals is that of La Lucha located on Portal Matamoros. You will love the smell when you walk in of many different types of chocolates, and coffees, as well as many baking pastries. Here you will get gourmet coffee for 11 pesos and pastries for 16 pesos. They are open every day from 9am-9pm and they only accept cash as payment.

There are not a ton of options as far as lodgings are concerned but I will tell you about a few notable ones. The hotels that are here are quite reasonably priced and pretty clean. If you would like to get the most bang for your buck you will want to check the availability at Alameda Hotel which is located on Corregidora which is right near the center of town. The rooms here have nice furnishings, are very spacious and really clean. The beds are a good size, there is AC, cable and the single person rooms go for 175 pesos a night, double person rooms go for 215 pesos, triple person rooms go for 260 pesos, and they even have four people rooms for 305 pesos per night. They only accept cash as payment. There is another option called Hotel Nacionel which is located also on Corregidora and also in close proximity to the center of town. The rooms here are comfortable and a bit small. The rooms do come with their own private bathrooms and if you walk up to the fourth floor you will be able to have a view of the city from the rooftop terrace. The single rooms go for 175 pesos a night, and the double person rooms go for 300 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment.

There are not a ton of restaurants either but the ones they do have are quite delicious and filling. If you love sweets and candies you will be in heaven as there is one on just about every corner in town. If you are a fan of pizza you will want to check out Buona Pizza which is located on Madero and that is the road that lies south of the center. The decor is not very appealing but the food here is out of this world. You may think you have died and gone to heaven. Here you can buy pizzas for around 60 pesos, hamburgers for 42 pesos, and several delicious pasta dishes go for 58 pesos per plate. They are open every day from 10am-9pm and they only accept cash as payment. If you desire more of an atmosphere you should head over to the Pantera Rosa which means Pink Panther. Here you will see the waiters and waitresses are decked out in all pink outfits and the restaurant is decorated in pink panther decor. The dishes here are quite extravagant and include items like beef and chicken dishes all done up how you would like them and they go for around 90 pesos a dish. They are open every day from 10am-10pm and they only accept cash as payment. One other notable area you should try if you are more interested in street food like tacos or burgers you should head to the Morelos Mercado next to the center of town. Here you will pay around 30 pesos per item and they are open every day from 8am-8pm and they only accept cash as payment.

If you are planning on visiting Zitacuaro during the months of November and December it would be best to make reservations well in advance as this is a popular time of year due to it being butterfly season. If you book far enough in advance you can get some really attractive rates and stay in some very nice hotels. If you stay at the America Hotel you will get a lot of bang for your buck. The America Hotel is located on Revolucion and has a lot of available parking and very clean rooms that have private bathrooms, and TV’s. You can even get a room with a balcony that will look out to Revolucion Road. If you only need a single person room you will pay 182 pesos per night, the doubles go for 265 pesos and the triples are 350 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment so come prepared. You will also enjoy the Lorenz Hotel which was just remodeled in 2007. The rooms here are very big and come with nice furnishings, and you can even get a room over the courtyard fountain. The single person rooms are 185 pesos a night, doubles are 265 pesos a night and the triples and quad rooms go for 360 pesos a night. They also only accept cash as payment.

As far as food goes you will find plenty of delicious options at the Cafeteria Chipps which is located on Hidalgo. This restaurant is owned by a family that all work here. You can get corrida here for 42 pesos, and they have many vegetarian dishes also. If you like milkshakes you will pay just 16 pesos for a creamy delicious treat.  They are open Mon-Sat 11am-6pm and they only accept cash as payment. If you like pink then you will really enjoy the atmosphere and view you get while eating at Bambinos’s which is located on Lerdo De Taja Road. This place is very popular among the locals and the reason is the food and ambiance is very appealing. The breakfast entrees cost around 45 pesos, tortas and burgers for 20 pesos, and they also sell pizza by the slice for 11 pesos. You can finish your meal off with a little hot fudge Sunday for 19 pesos. They are open every day from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm and they only accept cash as payment. If you are looking for a quick bite you will have many street taco stands, fruit stands, veggies, ice cream , and the list goes on all located on Calle Del Hambre. Calle Del Hambre means road of hunger and is located in between Ocampo and Hidalgo. This area is located just outside of the Municipal Market. The Municipal Market is open every day from  8am-6pm. Some of the taco stands stay open a bit later. If you are looking for somewhere to buy snacks and beverages to take back with you to your hotel room look no further than Super ISSTE which is a super market located on Revolucion and it is open every day from 9am-9pm and they accept all major credit cards here.

You may also be interested to know that the tastes on the street change every day as in Zatacuaro they designate certain foods to be made at certain times of the day. For example if you like breads made with bleached flour they are only available for sale in the mornings, whereas the pastries and sweets are sold in the afternoons. The people of Zitacuaro are very proud of their pastries and breads.

There are little if no budget accommodations at all of Ajijic. The high prices in Ajijic have brought the city a lot of luxurious options. If you are on a budget maybe you could just make Ajijic a daytrip from Chapala as the rooms in Chapala are much more affordable. One of the nicest hotels in Ajijic is called  Las Casitas and you will find it located on Carretera and this is one of the most luxurious hotels. The entry of the lobby is all done up with red tile floors that also are in the hotel rooms. In these rooms you will have a private bathroom, AC, TV, chimney, living room and a full size kitchen. If you would like to stay in a double occupancy bungalow you will pay 400 pesos per night and they only accept cash as payment. If you would like to have a room all done in white tile floors then you will find yourself happiest staying at the Italo Hotel located on Guadalupe Victoria. Here the rooms come fully equipped with fans, ac, refrigerators, cable and phones. On the hotel premises they have a spa, laundro-mat where they do your laundry for you, and a hot tub.  The single rooms here go for 310 pesos per night, the double occupancy rooms go for 410 pesos per night, and the triple occupancy rooms go for 510 pesos a night. They accept all major credit cards as payment here.  If you would love your hotel to be surrounded with the most beautiful picturesque garden then you should stay at the Posada las Calandrias which is also located on Carretera Chapala. Outside the hotel you will see a beautiful garden of roses. There are also available barbeque pits and the rooms have a terrace that will give you quite a nice view of the city.  If you would like to stay here a two person bungalow costs 410 pesos per night and if you need more room for additional guests then you will pay 510 pesos per night. All the bungalows include small partial kitchens, comfy beds, and refrigerators. They accept all major credit cards here for payment.

If you love to eat you have come to the right place that has options for those on a budget all the way up to the tastes of the rich and famous. A great morning restaurant that serves a quite filling breakfast is that of Cafe in Acalli. The restaurant is located in a beautiful garden that also has many pretty birds there. The cafe is located on 16 de Septiembre. Here the prices for gourmet coffee are 10 pesos, burgers cost 16b pesos, and wraps cost 42 pesos. The restaurant is open Mon-Sat 9am-5pm and only accepts cash as payment. If you are looking to get the most bang for your buck then you will definitely want to check out the eats at Restaurant Tepalo which is located on Parroquia. They are famous for shrimp sandwiches that are deep fried and cost 42 pesos, fillets of fish for 32 pesos, and traditional enchiladas for 30 pesos.  They are open Mon -Fri 8am-5pm and on the weekends the hours are 8am-6pm. They only accept cash as payment. If you would like to see a restaurant come alive as an eatery and an art museum you must have a stop at Saint Peters which is located on Marcos Castellanos and you will be able to see it across the street from the church.  Here they serve tapas that cost 32 pesos, and they have many delicious entrees that cost 100 pesos. They are open Mon -Sat 1pm-12 midnight and on Sundays the hours are 1pm-7:30 pm and they accept all major credit cards here as payment. If you are health conscious you will be pleased that they have a restaurant that serves only organic food and organic gourmet coffees. This restaurant is called Cafe Grano Cafe and it is located on Marcos Castellanos as well. Here you can enjoy coffee for 10 pesos and frothy lattes cost 20 pesos.  They are open every day and only accept cash as payment.

Many people that come to Zipolite bring hammocks as many of the restaurant and hotel owners allow travelers to rig up your hammock in between a couple trees or near the hammocks they provide visitors for a very reasonable fee. If you bring your hammock you could save money that you would otherwise have to spend on a hotel room or bungalow.

All along the beach of Zipolite you will see many palapas that house little beach huts and some even have clean and private bathrooms attached. If you choose a palapa with a bathroom or one that is open you should definitely store your valuables in a locker or otherwise you run the risk of theft. If this seems like a little too much nature you could venture to the west end of the beach where the accommodations are a bit fancier. If it is clean, spacious, and luxury you crave you will best be suited at the Posada Esmeralda which is located on the end of Paisan Road. The rooms are actually quite simple but the bathrooms are very clean and have all you would need. You will find this hotel to be a breath of fresh air from the rough and toughness of beach camping or hammocking. The only drawback of Poasada Esmeralda is that they do not have hot water. You will pay 160 pesos per night for a single room and 26 pesos for a double room. They only accept cash as payment. Just down the road from the Esmeralda you will find a hotel with many levels of comfort called Brisa Marina Hotel. This hotel has a few levels of rooms that provide simple accommodations to very extravagant ones. The beds here are plush and extremely comfortable while the bathrooms could use a little work they are still private and that is a nice feature. The prices are very cheap as you will only pay 85 pesos for a single, doubles with their own bath cost 160 pesos per night, and if you would also like  a private bath and private balcony you will pay 260 pesos per night. They only take cash as payment here. If you are really looking to spend the most time concentrated on the beach while spending as little as possible you should head to the most western portion of Zipolite’s beach and stay at Posada San Cristobal. At the entry you will be greeted by enormous tropical flowers that create some shade on the beautiful courtyard and make tying up a hammock here very appealing. If you stay here you will have to share a community bath that is very clean and each one has a mosquito net so that you are not bothered by the pesky insects. If you would like to stay here you will pay 160 pesos for a single and if you would like to have a private bath you will pay 260 pesos per night. They do provide discounts for extended stay visitors but they only take cash as payment.

If you enjoy pasta and seafood you will be in heaven here in Zipolite. If you are one of the more health conscious travelers you will be happy to know that there are many health and vegetarian options at almost all the restaurants in Zipolite. The most frequented and best tasting restaurants can be found on the west side of Zipolite’s beach. If you are craving delicious and traditional Mexican fare you should head to Loa Almendros which is located on the East area of Paisan Road. Here you will enjoy very inexpensive antijotos which will cost around 30 pesos, and big entree style dinners of beef or chicken for around 75 pesos per plate. They are open every day and between the hours of 10am-10pm. They only accept cash as payment here. If you head a road or two north of Paisan road you will be on the 3 de Diciembre Road which has a couple great options to buy a delicious piece of pie or pastry. They have many different types of pies and pastries ranging from all kinds of fruit to all types of chocolates. You treat will cost around 26 pesos and they are only open Wed-Sat 7pm-2am and only take cash as payment. If you have a hankering for pizza or French styled crepes you will best be fulfilled at El Terrible which is located at the end of Paisan to the east. The owner of this restaurant is really French and knows how to do the crepes just right. He is no stranger to delicious pizza either. If you want a pizza you will pay 85 pesos. They are open Tues-Sat 6:30pm-12 Midnight and they only accept cash as payment.

Much of the attractions here are geared towards academic scholars and artists because they offer many workshops and lectures here. If you would like a schedule of all the workshops and art classes here you can go to the Centro Cultural Villahermosa where they post a weekly agenda of events. The Cultural Center is located on Zaragoza and Madero on the other side of the street from the Juarez Park. Some of the offerings are plays, and musicals. The cultural center is open every day from 10am-8pm. If you would like to hear some great live music bands you should head over to the cafe that is located behind the Galeria el Jaguar Despertado which is located on Saenz right by the Zona Luz. Some of the styles of music you can hear there are classical, jazz, and local favorites. This establishment also posts a listing of the different music bands that will be playing each week. The shows usually begin around 8 pm. If you walk upstairs you can look at art displayed from local artists that is also available for sale. The Galeria is open Mon-Fri from 9am-9pm , Saturdays from 9am-8pm and on Sunday 10am-3pm.

If you head across the street from the galeria you will come across the Colegio de Arte Tabasco which is also located right of Saenz Street. This place has a lot of art in the contemporary styling. You can also purchase pieces if you find something you cannot live without. The Art College is open Mon-Fri 9am-9pm.

If you are looking for some hot spots to party at in the evenings you may want to check out the discos around Tabasco 2000. This is the area to be in if you want to get dressed to the nines and be seen. The music in the clubs is more of a techno version and some salsa. If you would like to get to and from the bars safely it is recommended that you go via taxi.

One of these lounges is called Bfore and it is located on Paseo Tabasco right before you reach Obrero. This club is very hip and people of all legal drinking age flock here to hang out on the cozy and chic couches. The walls are decorated buy very modern looking black and white photos. There is a DJ spinning the beats. The beers here cost 65 pesos and the mixed cocktails are 45 pesos. If you like they even have karaoke offered here which is a fun activity once you have had a couple drinks. To get in the bar you must pay a cover charge of 35 pesos and they are open Thurs-Sun from 8pm-3am. They accept all major credit cards as payment.

If you are looking for a more peaceful and relaxing scene in the evening you would be much happier at La Bohemia de Manrique which is located on Calle Via 2. The food here is delicious and the atmosphere soothing and inviting. Here you will pay 20 pesos for beers, and 40 pesos for mixed cocktails. If you would like to have some delicious appetizers they will charge around 50 pesos per item. You can get delicious gourmet entrees for around 100 pesos. The entertainment here is provided by trova musicians. You will need to pay a cover charge to get in which will run 42 pesos per person. On the weekend  the cover charge increases to 62 pesos. This establishment is open Tues-Fri 8pm-4am.

Barra de Navidad Hotels and Dining

The hotels in Barra de Navidad are much nicer than those in Melaque. The hotels are also much cleaner and less expensive too. In the high season you will pay a premium price but that is only in the month of December and during the week of Semana Santa. The Posada Pacifico is a lovely hotel located on Mazatlan Road. At this hotel you will be able to walk on a walkway that goes right over a beautiful garden and gives a villa feel. The rooms here a very big and come with clean bathrooms and fans. You can even rent boogie boards at this hotel for 35 pesos. The lobby is staffed 24 hours a day if you have any cares or concerns. The single person rooms cost 185 pesos a night, the two person rooms are 285 pesos a night, and the three person rooms are 325 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here. The biggest bargain in all of Barra de Navidad would definitely be Casa de Huespedes Mama Loya which is located on Veracruz 69. The entrance is tiled in beautiful blue glass tiles and gives a very soothing and inviting feeling upon entering. The rooms here are simple but clean. The rooms all have private bathrooms and comfy beds. The reception area is staffed 24 hours a day. Here the charge for a single person room is only 105 pesos a night, and a two person room is 155 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here.  Another less expensive option is that of Hotel Caribe which is located on Sonora. The rooms here are clean and simple. The courtyard has a beautiful fountain that is wonderful to sit and read at while taking in the sounds of nature surrounding you.  The price for a single person room is 155 pesos a night, and if you would like a TV in your room you will pay an additional 50 pesos a night. The two person rooms go for 255 pesos a night and that includes a TV in your room. They only accept cash as payment here. The Hotel Jalisco is located on Jalisco and they also have bikes that you can rent. The rooms here come with simple furniture, fans, and TV. The best part of your room is the balcony where you will have the most magnificent view of the area. If you would like to rent a bike while you are here you can do so for 25 pesos an hour or 110 pesos for a whole day. The lobby is staffed 24 hours a day if you have any concerns while you are staying here. The price for a single person room is 160 pesos a night, a two person room is 210 pesos a night and a three person room goes for 260 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here.  You should know that there is absolutely no camping in Barra de Navidad and if you wish to camp you should head over to Melaque.

The food in Barra de Navidad is by no means notable. One place that will satisfy your hunger is that of Restaurant Bar Ramon which is located on Legazpi and the atmosphere is classy and the decor is brick walls with a slightly formal feel. If you are planning on fishing the next day you should probably choose the fisherman’s lunch box which is a meal that is easy on the stomach and will not give you any problems while you are out on the boat the next day even if you do get a little queasy. The fisherman’s box goes for 55 pesos and the beers here cost 16 pesos. They also have some decent seafood entrees that go for around 80 pesos a plate. This restaurant is open every day from 7am-11pm and they only accept cash as payment here.  If you are more in the mood for traditional Mexican Fare you would be very happy at Restaurant Paty which is also located on Jalisco. Here you can order a very good breakfast special which is sure to keep you full for only 40 pesos. You can choose from a variety of Mexican Beers that cost 18 pesos. The appetizers here cost around 50 pesos and meat entrees go for around 45 pesos each. This restaurant is open every day between the hours of 8am-11pm. A favorite among Expats is that of Felix’s Bar which is located on Jalisco 48. The seating is all outdoors here and they offer many different kinds of sandwiches and Mexican specialties all for around 40 pesos. You can get a variety of beers here for 17 pesos. They are open every day from 8am-11pm and they only accept cash as payment.

There are not too many available hotels in San Ignacio and because of the limited availability the prices are more on the high side. You will need to make reservations wee in advance if you plan on coming to the town of San Ignacio during El Dia de San Ignacio. This day falls on the last day of July. Another very busy time of year in San Ignacio is during the week of Semana Santa. If you are on a tight budget you have the option of camping in many places around the town. One place that is very famous is that of Casa Leree. The woman who owns this hotel is the town historian and she can provide a nice place to stay as well as a lot of history of the town. You will find Casa Leree located on the corner of Morelos and Juarez. Inside this hotel you will see a few rooms that have been adorned with art work form artists who live in this town and there is also a magnificent garden where you can take a load off and read a book if you choose. The rooms here cost 360 pesos a night, and if you would like a suite you will pay 670 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here. If you head a bit on the outskirts of town you will find Ignacio Springs which is a very homey bed and breakfast establishment. The accommodations here consist of little cabins beside the river. While you stay here you are welcome to use their kayaks for free. The cost for a cabin here is 600 pesos a night and they accept all major credit cards here as payment. If you take a short stroll from Hidalgo Road you will wind up at the Hotel Posada which is basically a glorified motel. The rooms are clean and come with fans to keep you a bit cooler. The price for a single person room or a double person room is 260 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here. If you are looking to save as many pesos as possible you should try camping at the Lakeside RV Park which is very close to Ignacio Springs. The charge for camping here is 55 pesos a night.

If you are looking for some of the best beef tacos in town then look no further than the Sport Racing Bar Restaurant which is very near Casa Leree. The food is cheap and delicious. The theme here is Mexican race car drivers as you will see photos and memorabilia all over the walls here. The restaurant is open every day between the hours of 10am-10pm. If you would like to dine at a restaurant right on the water you should head over to Mikasa Cafe which you will find at the entrance to the river. The menu here is quite simple and some of the things offered are tortas for 30 pesos, huevos for 55 pesos, and they even have water activity rentals like kayaks for 55 pesos and if you prefer not to work so hard you can just swim in the river for free. This riverside restaurant is open every day between the hours of 9am-9pm. If you are in the mood for seafood you should check out Restaurant Bar Rene’s which you will find located on Hidalgo. If you would like to find a grocery store where you can load up on snacks to take back to the hotel look no further than Nuevos Almacenes Meza which you will see on the corner of Luyando and Juarez roads. They are open Mon-Sat from 8am-12noon and then they re-open from 2pm-6pm. On Sundays the grocery store is open from 8am-12noon.

Perula Hotels and Dining

You will not have too many decisions to make as far as what hotel you should stay at while you are in Perula. One place you should look into is that of Hotel Punta Perula which is located on Tiburon and Juarez near the corner. This hotel is just a couple blocks away from the sandy beaches. This hotel is the best deal in all of Perula. The rooms here are very large and roomy and are decorated with nice antique like furnishings. All the rooms include a private bathroom as well as TV’s. The amenities within the hotel include the fact that there is a very beautiful courtyard with many beautiful flowers and hanging hammocks. A very nice place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. If you wish to stay here you should plan well in advance with your reservations as this place fills up quickly. In the higher of seasons the single person rooms go for 260 pesos per night, and the double and triple rooms go for 360 pesos a night. They only accept cash as payment here.  If you are unable to get a room at the Hotel Punta Perula you should check out the Estancia Dolphin which is located on Paiva and Juarez. You will not be disappointed with the accommodations here. This hotel is only a couple blocks from the main plaza and this hotel also has a magnificent courtyard, swimming pool and a very unique statue on the property. The rooms here are also quite big and feature enormous beds, fans, cable TV, and a dolphin theme throughout the rooms. The bathrooms here are private and very clean. This hotel also fills up quite quickly so you will want to make your reservations in advance. The prices of rooms here go for 360 pesos a night and can accommodate four travelers. They also only accept cash as payment.

You will not have too many options when it comes to cuisine, its either tacos or seafood. If you are in the mood for seafood you should really take advantage of the La Prieta which is a beautiful restaurant located right on the beach by the rocks. You can have your seafood prepared to order. You may choose from filleted, fried, or even within a salad. If you are a fan of shrimp you will find a lot of pleasure in the shrimp cocktail with a Pacifico beer. That combination will run you around 90 pesos and well worth every peso. La Prieta is open every day during the higher of the seasons and keeps the hours of 7am-11pm and will stay open even later depending on how crowded they are. They only accept cash as payment here. You will find there are quite a few other restaurants that serve seafood but many of them are only open during tourist season and close down during the off season. If you would like to find a good place you will have the best luck by just asking the locals where you should go. If you are in the mood for some authentic tacos you are in luck because there are some very tasty ones at the Taqueria Michel which is located on Independencia which is in the southern part of the plaza. The food here is inexpensive and delicious. If you would like you can also get great appetizers and beer here as well. The tacos cost 8 pesos and the cheese crisps are 11 pesos. This restaurant is open every day from 6am-11pm and they also only accept cash as payment.

Hotels and Food in Melaque

The most expensive accommodations can be found right on the beach in Melaque whereas accommodations that are a bit more affordable can be found within the town and most are located on Farias. The rates are even more expensive in the tourist season which occurs between the months of December and April. You can also do a little camping in Melaque but the only way you can do that is by making arrangements with the beachfront restaurants that have some camping accommodations on their land. You and the restaurant owner will have to negotiate an agreeable price in order to camp. If you are trying to conserve your pesos you may want to check out Hotel Los Caracoles which is located on Farias. The rooms are comfortable and some of the cleanest within the town. The rooms feature large fans, TV, clean, private bathrooms, and big comfy beds. The lobby has a very inviting entrance and there is someone working the desk 24 hours a day. The rooms her cost 260 for a single person room, 360 for a room with two beds, 460 for a triple occupancy room and a four person accommodation will cost 505 pesos per night. They also have bungalows which can accommodate up to 8 travelers and they come equipped with their own kitchenettes and they go for almost 700 pesos a night. They accept all major credit cards here as payment but you will want to make your reservations well in advance if you plan on coming here between the months of December and April because rooms fill up quickly. If that hotel seems a bit too pricey you should try getting a room at the Casa Paula which is located on Vallarta. The Casa Paula entrance is a courtyard where you will see an abundance of children playing, and many beautiful flowers and lush landscaping. The rooms here are comfortable and feature an eccentric theme painted on each of the rooms here. The rooms come with fans, TV, refrigerators, and clean blue colored bathrooms. The rooms here cost 210 pesos for up to two people, 3 people can be accommodated for 260 pesos a night and four people rooms are 360 pesos. They only accept cash as payment here.  You can find comparable rates at the Bungalows Los Arcos which is located on Farias.  To get to the Bungalows you should take a right hand turn from the bus station and head to the end of the street where you will find it located on your left. The rooms here are b=very large and clean and all come with air conditioning, fans, TV’s, and your own small private bathroom. If you have spent a lot of time at the beach and are burned out on all the salt water you should take a dip in the pool that they have located on the property.  In the busy season the bungalow’s that can accommodate up to three people go for 410 pesos a  night, if you have four people in your group the cost is 510 pesos a night. In the off season the rooms go for 210 for one person, 360 for three people and four people rooms go for 400 pesos. In the off season you will just need to pay an additional 60 pesos per person. They only accept cash as payment here.

As far as food is concerned you can find many small restaurants that serve up many different kinds of appetizers and tacos all over the plaza. If you are in the mood for seafood and more of a sit down meal you will find those restaurants located near the water with beach chairs as the seating. Loncheria Maria Luisa is located on Hidalgo Street and they serve some delicious fruit combinations with all sorts of flavors and textures. You can sit at a high top table and watch the bartender concoct all sorts of treats in the blender while you eat a taco or burrito.  If you want one of these fruit cocktails you will pay around 26 pesos per drink and the tacos and burritos are less than 10 pesos each. The restaurant is open every day between the hours of 7am-11pm.  A restaurant that is a favorite among the locals is called Restaurant Ayala which you will find located on Carrillo Puerto which is a street that comes right before Mateos. Here you will enjoy several different fish for 40 pesos each, hamburgers with French fries cost 25 pesos, and they also feature some heavier dinner entrees for around 60 pesos a plate.  The restaurant is open every day between the hours of 8am-5pm.  If you would like to be right on the water you would be happiest eating at the Las Palmas restaurant which seats you just feet from the waves.  The view here is incredible as well as the cuisine which features octopus and shrimp for around 80 pesos and some traditional enchiladas cost 42 pesos. The beers here will run 20 pesos and the restaurant is open every day between the hours of 9am-6pm and they only accept cash as payment.
